This is the main room at Jumblies in which we care for up to 26 children aged 2-5 years.

Our Manager Maddi Murley is assisted by our Deputy Manager Megan Forder and a number of qualified and experienced staff. Photographs of all staff are displayed on the right of the entrance door; qualifications are on the board in the hall. Each child has two key persons allocated to them to support their settling ino the Nursery and to build strong relationships.

Children can get funding for these sessions from the term after their third birthday. Two year old's whose parents are on certain benefits may qualify for funding. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to plan for the children throughout the day following an ambitious curriculum to ensure that planned activities are based on children’s interests, promoting educational experiences and life skills.  Key persons regularly observe their children and complete a significant observation of each child termly and nurture plans are implemented if a child is not on track in any area. Daily observations are shared on Tapestry  along with shared learning and parenting support which is regularly published for parents. Our minimum staffing ratio for this room in 1 adult to 4 children aged 2 years and 1 adult to 8 children aged 3 years and above. More information about the EYFS can be found here.

We vary activities on offer for children daily to follow a weekly theme on table tops and the carpets to promote exploration, active learning and critical thinking. The following activities are always available:

  • Outside play area (Climbing frame, bikes, tunnel, outdoor kitchen, fairy garden, sports equipment, sensory board & plants)

  • Home and role play corner (kitchen, dolls, dressing up and opportunities for mark making and real life visuals)

  • Mathematical  (counting and sorting, matching, rulers and measuring)

  • Literacy (Phonics, initial sounds, stories, singing, poems and writing area)

  • Water and sand trays and creative table.

  • Action songs at every carpet time, discussions about the days of the week, month, the weather and seasons

  • Texture alcove and Nature alcove

  • Cosy corner with books, sensory materials and some quiet/sensor.

  • Well being and cultural awareness.

The weekly planning is displayed  with our daily routine.

A Blackboard outside gives some information about the activities planned during the week. A notice board in the hallway and the frame on the outside wall give lots of information about our provision, or click here to see our newsletter.

We encourage all children to spend some time in our outside area, whatever the weather. For children who require a nap we have mats available, which will be put in a quiet corner to allow for some rest. We provide a named box to keep your child’s blanket and sheet in. Please inform a senior member of staff if your child needs to be given prescribed medication. Medication is to be kept in the kitchen out of the reach of children.

To help your child settle into Jumblies successfully we offer two free settling in sessions of one hour. During the first settling in session we would like you to stay in the nursery, this will give you the opportunity to get to know the nursery staff, especially your child’s key person as well as our nursery environment. We can arrange to visit you at home if you feel this would help your child settle in.
